Sympaticare, a New York State-based Nursing Home Administration Company, specializes in creating successful and state-of-the-art senior care facilities. |
At Sympaticare, a senior care management company, we create facilities that allow residents to feel at home – to feel loved, cared for, and cared about.
Part of feeling at home is fostering an environment that feels safe, comfortable, and best-suited for the phase of life you’re in. We know how difficult it is to make the decision to seek additional care for your family members as they age. However, when you choose a Sympaticare nursing home facility, you can trust your loved ones are receiving the highest quality of care.
As a nursing home administration company, Sympaticare assists with the operation of several different types of senior care that are designed to best meet the needs of residents as their needs and level for care change.
In this blog post, Sympaticare, a nursing home administration company, will explain the differences between Assisted Living and other types of senior care, including Independent Living, Senior Home Care Services, and Adult Day Services.
Assisted Living Facilities
In an Assisted Living facility, supportive services are available around the clock to meet our residents’ needs. Care is scheduled to promote maximum dignity and independence for each resident.
Assisted Living incorporates a special combination of housing, supportive services, personal assistance, and health services designed to respond to the individual needs of those who don’t need help with activities of daily living.
Who would benefit from Assisted Living?
Assisted Living is for older adults who don’t require help and are independent with activities of daily living such as:
Bathing
Dressing
Housekeeping
Eating
Who typically resides in an Assisted Living facility?
ssisted Living programs are designed for individuals who range from being semi-independent, but need some support to those who are moderately independent persons who require some assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Assisted Living residents must be 55 years of age or older or have a disability that negates them living alone. Residents may require only intermittent or part-time health-related care. A typical community member is 85 years old or older, female, and either widowed or single. Our residents may suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or other memory disorders
Other Assisted Living Facts
It is estimated that there are approximately 130,000 to 140,000 Assisted Living facilities in the United States. Approximately one million individuals live in Assisted Living residences.
Residences may be free-standing or housed with other residential options, such as independent living or nursing care. Most Assisted Living facilities have anywhere between 25 and 120 units. Units may vary in size from one room to a full apartment.
The ratio for care in an Assisted Living facility is 1 caregiver to 12+ residents.
Independent Senior Living
For seniors who do not require daily personal care assistance, but want to live with other seniors, reduce stress, or downsize, an independent senior living community is an excellent fit. Independent living is intended for seniors who are still active and want to enjoy all retirement has to offer.
Senior Home Care Services
Home Care Services allows seniors the opportunity to age in place. A home health aide can assist with personal care, household tasks/chores, cooking, money management, and healthcare.
Adult Day Services
Senior Adult Day Services offer rich environments with supervision, recreation, meals, and medical care for seniors to spend their days with other seniors and skilled staff accompaniment.
